Third tier

Geneticist

Third tier Base level 100 to 150 Merchant line

The Geneticist is the alternate advancement option for Alchemists. They turn away from research into chemicals and potions and instead focus on the study of life itself. Their skills split evenly between two schools: Fauna skills, based on developing skills learned from the Homunculi they can create, and Flora skills, based on using genetically modified plants in combat.

Fauna skills are each inspired by one of the five Homunculus S: Eira, Bayeri, Sera, Dieter, and Eleanor. While any Fauna skill can be used by any Geneticist, the active Homunculus they have will change the behavior of their skills: the off-theme skills will generate stacks of Extort and have slightly weaker effects, while the on-theme skill will consume stacks of Extort to have a much stronger effect.

Flora skills are more directly offensive. They include both summoning skills, creating short-term plant companions to attack enemies and support allies, and instant use skills to damage and hinder enemies.

However, the Geneticist is not forced to commit entirely to one side of the skill tree. With low max levels on all of their skills, they are quite capable , and in fact will eventually be required to , split between both sides of the skill tree. Finding which skills from each side of the skill tree synergize together and with the individual player's playstyle is the key to building an effective Geneticist. And like most 3-2 jobs, integrating those skill choices with their previous Merchant and Alchemist skills will be the key to true mastery.
